Each vase is blown
with carefully selected Reichenbach, Kulger and Gaffer imported colors
glass rods. These rods are approximately one inch in diameter and twelve
to fifteen inches long. They come in a multitude of colors and allow the
glass artisan to blow many different colors with only one clear glass
pot of glass. A one inch piece of color is broken off the glass rod and
two to three different accent color chips of thin color glass are added
to the main color. It is then marved into a uniform cone of color,
pulled and twisted into swirls, reheated and shaped for attachment onto
the blow pipe. After the initial bubble is blown, the color is encased
with several layers of clear glass and blown into the final shape. |
